le premier octobre

Today was the first day at my internship!! It was neat, mellow, low key. The radio station I intern with is an NPR station, so there aren't like any celebs running through...or technically any good music playing really, just jazz on the commercial breaks. They do have an impressive jazz collection.

Anyways, I wasn't looking forward to getting up early. I don't have class until 12:30 Monday and Wednesdays, so I don't usually get outta bed until like 10:30! Somehow my heart started beating at 6:30ish this morning and it wasn't too painful, well it was...but i'm sure it'll get worse once the weeks go on. Can you believe it's October? ribbit ribbit.

My day at WFAE consisted of...burning copies of the shows on CD's, beginning to answer phone call's on the show, and look at online news. and my phone until it rang. Until i realized it was before 10 o clock and I get mad at people who text me before then anyways. The show starts at 9 o clock. Today's show was about the economy...which is a mess in case you've been undering a rock for the past 3 weeks. I feel like I'll learn alot. Tomororow's show is about gas shortage! I wish I could be there...there is NO gas in Charlotte! It's a mess. I drove to the next town this past weekend and there was no luck. Places that do have gas, expect to wait >25 to get to the pump. I went to Gastonia last night...(which is a small town about 30 mins. away , but there are some cool kids there :) ) and they didn't even have gas! scary. i feel like it's gonna be a movie weekend, starting with our favorite idiot we love to hate (for a reason) Mrs.Palin on the debate tomorrow night!

I had class until 5! I had to speak with my comm professor shortly after class today. I have a 20 page paper due at the end of the semester, I'll feel like i can do anything once I accomplish that. He told me alot of people interviewed for my internship position!!?! I never would have guessed. Sometimes I'm geniunely knowlingly naive about things, if that makes sense. I'm still moving because I took a wonderful nap today. The kind of nap that you wake up and think it's the next day. I really thought it was Thursday morning and I really wanted Taco Hell (it's hell for your insides but soo good! sometimes.) I went out for a quick wal-mart run and taco bell but it turned into an hour and a half!! Wal-mart was hell, everyone and their moms were at Taco Bell so I settled for quizno's. mmm tasty.

o yea, i met Rev. Al Sharpton yesterday. He was cool. I guess. See Al, over, over, there's me.

ha. c'est moi aussi. that's me too.

i've been trying to watch p.s. i love you since sunday! everytime i cut it own i fall asleep or i get interrupted for long periods of time. my best friend said it's tear worthy? whatever. but i could use a good cry lol ciao. this time next week...i'll be a chez moi! my house! yayyyyyy

tell Frank i said hi

Frank, the author and creator of Post Secret is going to be at East Carolina University tonight! I want to go sooo bad, but ECU is 4 hours away from me here at school! He was only an hour away at Wake Forest University last week but I was super busy. Post Secret is an anonymous community where people send in their most craziest/sadest/funniest/raunchiest secrets on regular index cards. Frank posts every Sunday. I always wake up Sunday morning and check www.postsecret.com first! You may have seen me post some of the post cards on my blog before...if you are in the area, please go for me!

I picked out of a few of my favorites! These people definitely have their own stories behind them..but I thought they stood out to me. I keep saying I'm going to send my own postcard in..

i check my mail everday in hopes of getting mail too. i did get a fabulous refund check today tho :)

ugh. so true.

you know it.

fly on little wing

i woke up this weekend and my first thought was "i want to go home"

i haven't had that thought in a while. At least I don't remember. I don't know why I even't want to go home! Besides my parents, there is no one at home! My sis is miles and miles across the world. Speaking of, technology is amazing! I've spoke to my sister almost 3 times on the phone and chat all the time with her on googlechat via my blackberry! So neat. If you wanna see her awesome pics of her trip..check her blog out here.

I'm still trying to get into the swing of things here at school. My days are sooo long between class, being editor of our Black Student Union magazine and still writing for my school's newspaper. I haven't been feeling well lately so that kinda stinks too. I'm working hard tho...I know this will all pay off soon, hopefully sooner than later.

if i were at home i'd like to :

go to hayes barton. although i went right before my sister left, you can never get enough of HB!

find a chair and other furniture for my apartment! it's so boring. my walls are white. i have a nice poster that was a gift but its on my floor still bc i don't have a hammer! and the chair with my desk is PAINFUL! so bad that its been forcing me to study in bed...which is not so effective, you know.

sleep with Romeo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For those close to me, you know who this is lol. Long story short...romeo (see above) is a teddy my mom gave me when i was like 11 or 12! He is pretty disgusting now and dirty. I sleep with him everynight. Well, i left him at home because I feel like i'm a little too old to be sleeping with teddy bears...but at least it's not a guy everynight, right?!? just looking at this makes me sad (sigh) miss u booboolol

self explanatory. but you have to go late when the freaks come out!!!

have a great week :)

my turn.

ten random things about me:
1. When I'm really concentrating on something or really busy, I roll my tongue like crazy. If you see my lips pursed or my half my mouth sucked in, I'm probably at work.
2. On the nights I don't go out during the week, I go to bed at 10:30. I have to sleep.
3. Unlike KarrieB, I'm horrible at taking compliments! I always respond with..." I'm tryna be like you!" or.."Really? Your dress is gorgeous too."
4. I swear on Proactiv.
5. To avoid thinking about something I shouldn't or don't want to think about, I say "not helpful" in my mind.
6. I get headaches really really easily! Strong perfumes, too much caffeine, bright lights, hunger...etc.
7. I have oddly accurate concept of time. I can wake up to the minute. Never use an an alarm clock at school.
8. My birthmark is eerily similar to the shape of the continents of Africa and Asia!! lol
9. I hide the food I buy from my family in my sis' old bedroom or hard to reach places in the freezer! That and my (small) stash of liq.
10. As much as I pick on my sister's' granny panties...I rather wear Vickie's bikini's any day than a thong as of late.

nine ways to win my heart
1. "just what i need you to do --stroke my hair"
2. don't jolt when you find out i pick my nose
3. pure sugah...no artificial sweetners here.
4. good morning texin messages

6. see my sister get married! and have babies too.
7. go to a live taping of the oprah winfrey show
8. love my bestfriends/kiddies/shawtyboo/family 'til it hurts.

seven ways to annoy me
1. act like you've read the encyclopedia of the world front and back
2. believe you're better than someone!!!
3. not do what you say you'll do.
4. not say "thank you."
5. to ask me something i just told you
6. acting stupid because it's cute...to you
7. send me forwarded text messages!!!!!

six things i believe in:
1. making traditions ex. neighborhood fireworks on july 3rd, midnight waffle house, cookout after the club!!
2. what goes around comes right back to youuuuuu
3. naps
4. Jesus
5. the laws of attraction/the secret

where is my passport?!

I would like a vacay. Anywhere, somewhere. Preferrably where there ain't no channels. And the air condition is premier. I've been working 6 days a week in the basement of my office. I see sunshine about...twice a day. Although, it is about 100+ degrees in NC, so that's probably not so bad. Anyways, I probably talk about going to the beach with my honeybooI work with everyday. The beach...because right now it's the closest place I can go and enjoy myself and still and be able to be back at work on Monday.

Everyone is having vacations but me!

KarrieB did Cancun

-1- is enjoying Miami

My sis is going back and forth to ATL

My parents are going to Caymen Islands for a week!!!

And me?!

I go to to work and back.

Last week, I found a trip to Amsterdam, Paris and London for New Year's. Seriously thinking about it, but I'm not sure if I wanna drop 2 G's on a trip. I know it'd be enjoyable...but the itenerary overlaps my last trip to Europe. It'd be a great trip for me and my girlfriends, but I don't think they'll have the money to go, I guess we are all broke college students. Paris is amazing tho! I'd love to be there right now.

My fabulous cousin mentioned Las Vegas for New Year's! Holla....that'd be awesome.

I am thinking about visiting my sister in Italy in October..but my fall break is only 2 days, which would give me about 4 full days in Italy, but I know getting thrown back in class mid-semester + jet lag would be a b*tch.

We'll see.

July 4th is coming up...it's one of my favorite holidays! My whole family will be far away, my sis will be with her schmoobie in Atlanta and my parents will be far far away. So that leaves me. Here. Hopefully something will come up!

Nevertheless...me and my girlfriends are planning to make a summer beach trip before the summer's end.

Please come soon.

heyyyy

I'm supposed to be studying right now! But I can't stop thinking about Sex and the City! The movie was surprisingly really well..despite all the bad reviews I was hearing about. I thought my experience was gonna be poopie and really packed but...I catched a late show last night with some cool girlies last night. I think the highlight was probably the 10+ gay black men who sat directly behind us. They behaved well, except one who seemed a little tipsy was lovin' my friend who goes to school in NY.

Despite being more than 2 hours...it was pretty fabulous! I never watched all six seasons of SATC, but I watched the last season and watched the late night re runs. But, the movie was still good if you weren't a big fan of the show. I didn't catch on to Carrie's taped up cell-phone...so if someone can tell me about that, that would make alot of sense.

Watching the movie made me
1. wanna go to NYC as soon as possible
2. miss having a 4some of best friends! 7 isn't too bad...but we always have to take 2 cars lol 3.realize i HATE being broke
4. wonder...is he my Mr. Big???
5. think it was Jennifer Hudson's first movie. She didn't do to hot. And whoever did her make-up in the movie played her. bad.
6. Wanna call KarrieB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides the movie, I spent a nice afternoon with a friend of mine from school who was visiting the area! Fun times. Stopped by a graduation cookout too...my high school graduated this weekend, I can't believe I graduated a year ago today! I can...but time flies.

Work is going well. I spent my second Saturday at the office. It's not too bad. Except I got paid accidently this Friday. Long story. Jokes on me, huh? The money is still in my account and I just look at it and daydream and realize I can't touch it.

yea. it stinks. late, i know but i had a great memorial day weekend! take a peek.

my sister's bf aka her schmoobie came to visit for her bday! they love each other.

me. hehe. lol. i promise i was being nice.on a serious note: don't try to play my sis in scrabble. she'll beat your a*s.yea, she's 23.

we had lots of fun though. especially with the margaritas. my sis middle! me at the end.

me and the girls went out too. i know i know...we make it look so easy.

back to work. have a great week :)

Monday, May 12, 2008

i haven't been able to sleep.

i'm back at home. for good. finally.

it feels good. my besties are far away, which kinda stinks.

specially the one that is in hawaii, i'm jealous.

i took 150+ voicemails messages off of my work's answering machine today.

since april 15.

she was probably drinking out of a coconut in her bikini.

you would not believe the messages i heard including

(picks up) "stop biting me!!!" (click)
or
"i didn't know my son was graduating this year, please call back soon so we can get some help with him enrolling in (community college) next year"

i saw kanye west. finally.

it was amazing. the pics got erased. except some from my sis'.

that's my friend from hampton, my light skinned honey besty from SC and me.

hung with some cool kids afterwards. saw a car accident which was scary.
this is really lame but, my sister can beautifully sum up my weekend for me.

take a look.

thanks nik lol.

i haven't been able to sleep recently.
can someone please tell me where my boyfriend is?!

i'm gonna come back with some substance soon. finally.

so close

Adrianne here. Newly 19. First, thank you all for the nice and wonderful and kind birthday wishes. Each of them made me smile :)

My birthday went pretty well, despite trying to clean my room at home to accomodate all of my stuff from here at school. I spent most of my birthday with my family and family friends which was simple and sweet. My and my big sis finally got to club together and we had a great time although I was probably the youngest person in the club ;) Spent a great afternoon with some wonderful people Sunday, and I'm getting more and more ready for summer.

I'm so closed to the end of school, my last exam is on Thursday and I will be pulling out of Charlotte as sooooooooooooooooooooon as I get out of my exam. I feel like there is nothing really here keeping me, but I am excited about a magazine me and a friend will be doing next year for our Black Student Union, pretty excited about that. It's kinda weird having all my stuff split between two places, i'm missing alot of my undies...I hope I left them at home this weekend.

Can't wait for the Glow in the Dark Tour, it's coming to Raleigh Friday!!!! I'm beyond excited, every review I read and hear from my friends who have already gone seems out of this world.

Today I got phone calls from Gayle King, Stevie Wonder, and Barack Obama himself. I don't even remember giving the campain my cell, but apparently I did, which was a bad decision. I tried to early vote last week, but didn't have my school ID...thus couldn't vote, bc I'm registered at home and my school ID would be proof of my residence in Charlotte. Tried to go today with my school ID, but they told me no. On the actual day I have to vote in my precinct, and I forgot to do an absentee ballot while I was home. Which stinks. I really feel bad...I'm one of those people who believes every single vote counts. It really does when you think about it. O well. Maybe I'll call Obama back and apologize. (Update: Obama won NC without my vote!!!!)

Starting my new job Monday morning at 8:30 am sharp. Excited, yet nervous a little.

This is kinda of random, but I never really liked (or had much taste) in people who stayed on Facebook and MySpace and everything else and never even glanced at the news. For instance, my roommate had no idea what was going on with the Olympic Torch, nor that Olympics was even going on this year. I wonder does she know if it's a leap year or even election year? Anyways...

For those who don't know...there was a HUGE cyclone in Myanmar last week. The current death toll is 22,000 and currently 41,00 people are missing. Imagine your whole town wiped out. Or your best friend long lost...possibly indefinitely. Truthfully, I had to look up Myanmar to see where it was. It's in Asia. I know it's miles and days away from where both you and me are, but just think about stability and safety we often take for granted and be thankful for them. A prayer for the people of Burma would be nice too.

Today I am thankful for:

the beautiful weather

a heavenly nap I had after my morning exam and time to actually nap and relax

feeling like me and my best friend can never have enough time to tell each other good news

my sis! she's so cool. i will miss her much

my ability to be patient, and not take things so damn seriously anymore

ciao.

dreaming.

I love to travel. I can't wait until the day when I have numerous trips planned across the world with my bestest friends and my Mr. Lover Lover :)

I was thinking today, and thought about the places I would like to visit, and re-visit.

I love Paris! It's amazing. And beautiful...I visited two summers ago, and would love to go back. There's a pic of me & the Eiffel Tower in my banner!!!

This was one of my favorite parts of the city...you can't really see in this picture, but at night time the locals sit on the edge of the Thames River and enjoy the view, enjoy kisses and enjoy alcohol. yum.

The Gherkin! I love London too...I want to go back and study abroad.

And now for my future destinaitons...

My next stop I want to make is Santorini, Greece! It's beautiful, ever since I saw Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, I've wanted to go. The scenary is amazing, and I would like the seclusion. I went to a few hotels in Europe once with no tvs and no phones...it seemed impossible at first, but it makes you realize the best things in life are indeed free! There's alot of fun things you can do without phones and stuff...you know?

Brazil would be nice too...I heard they love Black girls.

Visiting Africa would be neat too. Not sure if I'm ready for the extreme heat and sh*t. This is in the Serengeti, do you remember when we built sand castles there?!? Thanks Mr. Biggs.

Last on my list is Tokyo. It seems pretty neat...but I'm not quite sure if I'm ready for the 20+ hour flight, or having my US dollar equal to about...half of the yen. My sister's boyfriend went there for a while, and it seems like a super cool place to be. And Kanye says so too. And Johnny Boy.

Are you ready to travel the world with me?

Where would you like to go?

'til death do us part.

Those are some strong words. I think our society hears that phrase so much, that few people really think about them before they say them, and most of the time when it comes for a couple to break, they regret saying it in the first place.
I was watching a movie a few weeks ago...who knows what movie it was, there was a wedding scene. I think I was having one of those days where I was uber emotional and the newly weds-to be said this and I kinda got a little choked up. Not that I haven't said it already, those are some strong words; to say to another human being, to say in front of your family and friends and most importantly, under a vow of God.
Maybe I'm just a little too much of a realist, but to me, those words are literal. Only death is to separate you and your spouse. That means amongst the fights, the bickering and just the plain sick of each other. And of course, everyone knows most relationships endure their appropriate amount of disagreements. But "until death do us part" also encompasses...the sicknesses, the money problems and even the infidelity. And by committing to that, you're committing to being there all the way.
I know this is kinda impractical when you look at it, but last night on Grey's' Anatomy, this guy married his love interest after only 10 days. The woman was estatic because he was gorgeous, rich and caring, while she on the other hand was a "trashy waitress." To make a long story short, it turns out that the man had a brain tumor which prompted him to make quick decisions...in which marrying the woman at the spur of the moment was a prime example. What would you do if your husband married you by accident?
Remember Terry (whatever her last name??!) who was a paralyzed vegetable in the hospital for over 8 years? Her husband fought and fought to get her life support shut down so she could just die. What do you do when your husband is terminally ill and he can no longer function or he is in miserable pain? Does "'til death do us part" still matter?
And possibly the worst of them all: What if your spouse cheats on you? Or what if you just...fall outta love?
It's no secret that our society has fallen off when it comes to values. That is...American society, at least. The current rate for divorce is 50%. That means either your or your best friend's marriage will not last.
I'll only be 19 next week and I know right now marriage seems far in the distance, and when I've previously given thought to marriage...it scares me. Marriage does some blissful, but I've never thought marriage as something carefree and easy. I know I wouldn't even think about marrying someone whom I wasn't disgustingly obsessively over the top heels everything in love with, but just thinking about committing my entire life to someone is a serious commitment.

Could you say those words to someone and really mean it?

one day i will.

just a thought. have a great weekend.

i've been tagged.

I got tagged!
By...-1-
The Rules are as follows:
1. link the person who tagged you…
2. mention the rules in your blog…
3. tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. tag 6 following bloggers by linking them
5. leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged

Here are my six things:

1. The first thing I do when I get home, (or get into my dorm room) is take my two rings and watch off. It's really weird. It's the first thing I do. Even when I have to pee really bad, I can't sit on the potty with them on. I guess once I get to work, they distract me. Idk.

2. I have a 14'' by 10'' board on my nightstand that has everything I want in life. It has pictures of my fabulous mansion, my future career, my future alma mater, my future love, cute shoes and of course the Eiffel Tower (I'm tryna go again before I turn 20!). I see it every morning and every night before I go to sleep. Basically, if I imagine having it already, and think about them all the time, it will all come true. If you know/believe in The Secret, it's a vision board...so you know what I'm talking about.

3. A year ago tonight, I went to a concert for The Fray. I wasn't really that excited about going, I bought the tickets as a birthday gift for a friend. It turned out to be an amazing night. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and I think it was one of the things that spurred my love of summer nights. The music echoed perfectly, which made it sound like a soundtrack to the world. lol It's so weird because I can still remember that night so vividly.

4. I only have 3 front bottom teeth. In case you didn't know...most people have 4. I had a big uh-oh in like 2nd grade. Long story. No one can notice, my orthodontist did a great job.

5. I have really weird superstitions from when I was little: I blow at green lights so they'll stay green (Remember the movie Corinna, Corinna?) ; the first thing I say on the first day of each month is "Ribbit, Ribbit" (it's supposed to bring good luck for the month); I hate asymmetry and odd numbers (don't ask)

6. I love jeans. I wore a pair of jeans yesterday that I've had since 8th grade that I still love. They have holes in them and they are patched. I have a couple pairs of Seven (for all Mankind...not SEVEN JEANS), a pair of Rock and Republics, and a pair of Blue Cult. My money has been low lately, so I've been hitting up Old Navy, which I've been quite impressed with. And I do love Gap Jeans too.

Okay, I'm gonna tag....my sis, bri*chic, Stew, Don, Chass, and Kanye!! Hey...you never know.

Speaking of, Kanye and Lexi broke up :( I gotta get a new pic for my banner.
Thanks -1- for the tag.

one hun'n

Welcome to my 100th post.

(couldn't find a good 100 pic, but I'm sure I'll be amongst Time's 100 one day)

Today I am celebrating my 100th post. That's alot of posting when I think about it. To give you newbies a brief history, I started this blog the first full semester of my first year of college. Just to catalog the events, my emotions and everything else that goes on. In the mix, I've thrown in my random thoughts, heartaches, favorite things and exciting times and most recently...bad yet memorable situations. I named it "In Case you Were Wondering about AMM..." because I figured my name comes across my friend's mind not so often, so just in case they were thinking about me, they could stop through and see what I was up to. Also, I started blogging to practice my writing (if you haven't noticed...I hope to my a journalist one day) and just be content with saying whatever the hell I have to say, no matter who's listening or reading...to some extent. Which fortunately, and unfortunately, has become increasingly apparent in my life away from my laptop lol

I'm proud to say that in the past 100 posts, I have recruited some fabulous bloggers including my sister (who created my fabulous banner), my best friend, my light skinned honey girlfriend from home in SC and some other friends who are entering the wonderful blog world.

And...I've made some neat blogger friends including the fabulous Karrie B, my cool friend at Morgan State and -1-!!! Sometimes I really want to pick the phone up and call them sometimes. Do you feel that way??

I just tried to go back and find my favorite blogs but I don't really have one. It's always interesting to go back and re-read old feelings. Sometimes it seems as if some of those feelings still may be there!

On another note, what's really going on in Hollywood? Why are all these young celebrities getting pregnant? These can't be accidents because what BABY can help someone's career? I know accidents happen, but I've always said and felt like in today's age in time, it's kinda easy to NOT get pregnant. Specially when you have millions of dollars. Popping a pill every morning isn't that hard. Trust. The newest one is Ashlee Simpson. It makes me kinda upset because these celebrities don't understand how much power that have on our society and our youth's minds.

Let's recount the young pregger ones of Hollywood: Britney Spears at 22, Christina Aguilera (at least she was married a good minute pre-baby), Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson at 22, Jamie Lynn Spears at 16 (which is pretty much a disgrace). Okay..this is all I can think of right now, but yea there's alot. Sometimes I'm really scared for my scared for my children's generation.

Anyways, back to my 100 celebration. Thank you to everyone who continues to read my blog, stop thru or just stalk me...actually, the last one is NOT okay. Thanks to those few who have read from the beginning, to those who just hopped on or come occasisionally. For you people who just lurk and don't say hi (comment), that's not very nice.

So in gratitude, leave me comments telling me how much you love my blog and how I'm just fabulous and whatnot :) If you've never commented or been here, I challenge you to join in on this wonderful celebration...

happy 100th to meeee!
