panic.

i have no phoneeeeeeeeeee!!!

im about to go crazy. i was on my way to see notorious tonight. i met my friends there...they were zooted out there minds. i picked up a whole lot of bojangles to eat in the movie! i put the a cup of tea in the front pocket...with my cell phone. the lid wasn't on good and in seconds, the entire drink had spilled out in my pocket. my pocket was dripping.

someone was calling me and i my phone was just dripping. i thought it was okay because the phone was still functioning, but its not.

i said a lot of bad words.

i'm trying not to trip. but my blackberry is my alarm clock, my access to twitter! my email and MY PHONE.

it wouldn't be so bad if i was going to be snowed in my apartment tomorrow.

the damage was obviously my fault, so I'm going to have to get a new one. I dont think you can get temporary phones, but luckily i'm going home this weekend so I can just activate one of my old phones or my mom's something.

so yea. for those of you who need to reach me...email me at my first
 name and last name:
adrianne(lastname)@gmail.com and i'll get back to you?!

no more of this (sigh) for a while.

but...happy inauguration day.

le premier octobre

Today was the first day at my internship!! It was neat, mellow, low key. The radio station I intern with is an NPR station, so there aren't like any celebs running through...or technically any good music playing really, just jazz on the commercial breaks. They do have an impressive jazz collection.

Anyways, I wasn't looking forward to getting up early. I don't have class until 12:30 Monday and Wednesdays, so I don't usually get outta bed until like 10:30! Somehow my heart started beating at 6:30ish this morning and it wasn't too painful, well it was...but i'm sure it'll get worse once the weeks go on. Can you believe it's October? ribbit ribbit.

My day at WFAE consisted of...burning copies of the shows on CD's, beginning to answer phone call's on the show, and look at online news. and my phone until it rang. Until i realized it was before 10 o clock and I get mad at people who text me before then anyways. The show starts at 9 o clock. Today's show was about the economy...which is a mess in case you've been undering a rock for the past 3 weeks. I feel like I'll learn alot. Tomororow's show is about gas shortage! I wish I could be there...there is NO gas in Charlotte! It's a mess. I drove to the next town this past weekend and there was no luck. Places that do have gas, expect to wait >25 to get to the pump. I went to Gastonia last night...(which is a small town about 30 mins. away , but there are some cool kids there :) ) and they didn't even have gas! scary. i feel like it's gonna be a movie weekend, starting with our favorite idiot we love to hate (for a reason) Mrs.Palin on the debate tomorrow night!

I had class until 5! I had to speak with my comm professor shortly after class today. I have a 20 page paper due at the end of the semester, I'll feel like i can do anything once I accomplish that. He told me alot of people interviewed for my internship position!!?! I never would have guessed. Sometimes I'm geniunely knowlingly naive about things, if that makes sense. I'm still moving because I took a wonderful nap today. The kind of nap that you wake up and think it's the next day. I really thought it was Thursday morning and I really wanted Taco Hell (it's hell for your insides but soo good! sometimes.) I went out for a quick wal-mart run and taco bell but it turned into an hour and a half!! Wal-mart was hell, everyone and their moms were at Taco Bell so I settled for quizno's. mmm tasty.

o yea, i met Rev. Al Sharpton yesterday. He was cool. I guess. See Al, over, over, there's me.

ha. c'est moi aussi. that's me too.

i've been trying to watch p.s. i love you since sunday! everytime i cut it own i fall asleep or i get interrupted for long periods of time. my best friend said it's tear worthy? whatever. but i could use a good cry lol ciao. this time next week...i'll be a chez moi! my house! yayyyyyy

fly on little wing

i woke up this weekend and my first thought was "i want to go home"

i haven't had that thought in a while. At least I don't remember. I don't know why I even't want to go home! Besides my parents, there is no one at home! My sis is miles and miles across the world. Speaking of, technology is amazing! I've spoke to my sister almost 3 times on the phone and chat all the time with her on googlechat via my blackberry! So neat. If you wanna see her awesome pics of her trip..check her blog out here.

I'm still trying to get into the swing of things here at school. My days are sooo long between class, being editor of our Black Student Union magazine and still writing for my school's newspaper. I haven't been feeling well lately so that kinda stinks too. I'm working hard tho...I know this will all pay off soon, hopefully sooner than later.

if i were at home i'd like to :

go to hayes barton. although i went right before my sister left, you can never get enough of HB!

find a chair and other furniture for my apartment! it's so boring. my walls are white. i have a nice poster that was a gift but its on my floor still bc i don't have a hammer! and the chair with my desk is PAINFUL! so bad that its been forcing me to study in bed...which is not so effective, you know.

sleep with Romeo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For those close to me, you know who this is lol. Long story short...romeo (see above) is a teddy my mom gave me when i was like 11 or 12! He is pretty disgusting now and dirty. I sleep with him everynight. Well, i left him at home because I feel like i'm a little too old to be sleeping with teddy bears...but at least it's not a guy everynight, right?!? just looking at this makes me sad (sigh) miss u booboolol

self explanatory. but you have to go late when the freaks come out!!!

have a great week :)

dear summer

to you forever...from me to you:

Thanks Mr. West, for kicking off the summer with the one of the best concert's ever...and supplying my motto for summer '08: "grab a drink, holla at some (boys) and party b*tch!!!" which became amazingly true! lol

to my sis...(who is obviously too cool for this earth by looking at this pic) for giving me a place to crash! and many fun times and hillarious stories..please don't leave.

my job in the financial aid office at wtcc...made my heart weak when i became numb to sob stories and people who couldn't afford education, or my heart hurt when 21 year old single mothers were being shipped to iraq with a weekend's notice. nevertheless, it kept my mind strong.

although our seperation this summer was painful..the occasional random midweek sleepovers made me forget it all. This summer made me a few of those moments where I realized we were beyond best friends esp when I realized how hurt I was when you got your tattoo without me and when I couldn't sleep until you got back that morning in VA beach! It's gonna be a great year for us both...no worries.

didn't see you much this summer but we'll make it back here someday...maybe we can use the field to take off on my spaceship?

from running sprints on the moving sidewalks in the airport to you just making it with your broken ankle...stop worrying. You're gonna take Duke by a (red)storm. Just as long as you bring your t-shirt...

how come we were mutual friends of our 580489 friends for so long?? Don't know if I would have made it this summer without ya...that's a fact. I love you more than Ms.Annette, Goldilocks and Ms. Bev love cigs! Tell ECU to be ready when I come down and give them the business...

My only friend from school who came to visit me this summer! You were the specialest guest we ever had at $4 Tuesdays...can't wait to see you again

my girls...

we didn't get one shot together this summer since the camera died! but....

thanks for the long nights...sometimes too long lol

uber sexiness

true friendships/girltalks/dr*nk talks/heartachetalks/celeberations/tazewell suites to traveling pants times!

and overall, dear summer, thanks for reminding me

good people...

good food..

and good drinks...never goes outta style.

(special thanks to HondieBoo for getting me thru 2,000+ miles this summer!)

"im done for now

so one for now

possibly forever, we had fun together

but like all good things, we must come to an end

please show the same love to my friends

dear summer"

adrianne's thoughts on the week

Work --> D+
crazy busy. I work in the financial aid office of a community college where people usually can't afford to foot the bill of the classes. Everyone who comes in now is LATE for fall and today we did a major purging of fall registrations. You can only imagine. It's 8:30 then 5. Going to work in the morning actually....

CNN's Black in America --> C-
Didn't get me thinking much. I thought the first night was mostly story telling that didn't catch my attention...me and my sis and friends ended up laughing at completely random irrevelant things. And the host's disgustingly too big jeans. 2nd nights continued show of horrid statitics of black men just made me sad. I really want Spike Lee's specs tho!!!

$4 Tuesdays --> F
Didn't happen. Had a boring conference call for an event at school in the next month or so. Plus I'm trying to save my last few dolla dolla bills until I get paid next week! Cha chinnggggggg

Time --> D-
Moving entirely too fast. My farewell tour is about to kick-off soon. Make sure you book your appointment early. There are people I really do love that I still haven't seen this summer! Yikes. If that's you...please charge it to my head, not to my heart. Then call me. My sister is leaving soon for a long time, which makes me sad. E-mails from school are getting cranked up already. The possibility of me having surgery before school starts is becoming apparent too :O

Girlfriends/boosboopiecesshawtyboomissyous --> C+
Beach next week!!! Finally with my girlfriends, we all haven't hung out together in months! On the other side..encountered a little heartache this week, and my supposed alternative "date" tonight had a lame ass excuse. For the 4839054th time ..."you gotta do right by me, it's mandatory." snip snip.

Ryan --> C
No new news on Ryan, she is still in ICU. However,...my family greatly appreciates the prayers!!!

Did you see my twitter up top on the right?!?! I added it so I won't feel so bad when I don't blog often :)

It's summer. I'm young...and enjoying it! Here are pics from the past week!

miss you II

First, let me say...today is a day of rememberance for me and my family. A year ago today, my Grandfather passed. I miss him very much, but I know he's in a very very better place and his memory is still with me, almost everyday. I've never believed in the supernatural, besides that of God, but I do believe that some things today were not a coincidence.

This morning the sun woke me up. It was so bright. It wouldn't be so much of a big deal if the last two days here in Charlotte weren't completely disgusting and gray and nasty and rainy. To me, I felt like it was Papa smiling :) I remember this day last year...the day was amazing in some odd way. The weather was perfect too.

Then, I went to class this morning and my professor brought our class Dunkin Donuts. May be nothing to you, but my Nana and Papa always used to stop and get Dunkin Donuts when they went on long trips. I treated myself to the only chocolate sprinkled one and this guy tried to pitch a fit with me...whatever. I just smiled to myself.

If these things sound trivial and just coincidence to you, so be it...shoot me if it's wrong to believe coincidences are God's way of staying anonymous.

Besides that, today was a day of celebration. Besides remembering my Grandfather's life, it was my last day of class. And ironically, I only had one class today that lasted 20 minutes (we turned papers in and ate donuts, and I got a box of Nerds for my perfect attendance). I refused to go to my 8 o clock class and my afternoon class was cancelled, why you would cancel the last class before an exam especially when you have an assignment due?? ...I'll never understand. That did bother me a little bit.

I'm so happy to be done with class, but unfortunately, one thing had to get in my way of celebration.

Hondie.

Hondie is dead. I knew I needed some gas in my car, and when I started it today, I thought it was stranged that it didn't even turn over. Went and got a gas can (PLEASE don't tell my Dad). Still didn't work. Jumped Hondie, no pulse. No nothing. Luckily, my dad is going to be in the area tommorow so we'll get things straight. I think she's gonna have to be towed. I think my alternator is fried, died and blow dried. O well. My birthday is Saturday, maybe I can get a new car? Ha.

Now that class is over, I guess it's time I focus on studying for my exams and packing 454 up. I'm pretty much looking past exams and seeing summer...but I gotta face reality.

miss you Papa. love you much.

i've been tagged.

I got tagged!
By...-1-
The Rules are as follows:
1. link the person who tagged you…
2. mention the rules in your blog…
3. tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. tag 6 following bloggers by linking them
5. leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged

Here are my six things:

1. The first thing I do when I get home, (or get into my dorm room) is take my two rings and watch off. It's really weird. It's the first thing I do. Even when I have to pee really bad, I can't sit on the potty with them on. I guess once I get to work, they distract me. Idk.

2. I have a 14'' by 10'' board on my nightstand that has everything I want in life. It has pictures of my fabulous mansion, my future career, my future alma mater, my future love, cute shoes and of course the Eiffel Tower (I'm tryna go again before I turn 20!). I see it every morning and every night before I go to sleep. Basically, if I imagine having it already, and think about them all the time, it will all come true. If you know/believe in The Secret, it's a vision board...so you know what I'm talking about.

3. A year ago tonight, I went to a concert for The Fray. I wasn't really that excited about going, I bought the tickets as a birthday gift for a friend. It turned out to be an amazing night. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and I think it was one of the things that spurred my love of summer nights. The music echoed perfectly, which made it sound like a soundtrack to the world. lol It's so weird because I can still remember that night so vividly.

4. I only have 3 front bottom teeth. In case you didn't know...most people have 4. I had a big uh-oh in like 2nd grade. Long story. No one can notice, my orthodontist did a great job.

5. I have really weird superstitions from when I was little: I blow at green lights so they'll stay green (Remember the movie Corinna, Corinna?) ; the first thing I say on the first day of each month is "Ribbit, Ribbit" (it's supposed to bring good luck for the month); I hate asymmetry and odd numbers (don't ask)

6. I love jeans. I wore a pair of jeans yesterday that I've had since 8th grade that I still love. They have holes in them and they are patched. I have a couple pairs of Seven (for all Mankind...not SEVEN JEANS), a pair of Rock and Republics, and a pair of Blue Cult. My money has been low lately, so I've been hitting up Old Navy, which I've been quite impressed with. And I do love Gap Jeans too.

Okay, I'm gonna tag....my sis, bri*chic, Stew, Don, Chass, and Kanye!! Hey...you never know.

Speaking of, Kanye and Lexi broke up :( I gotta get a new pic for my banner.
Thanks -1- for the tag.

for the next 2.5 weeks...

just keep me where the light is, puhleease!!
I'm so close to the end. But it's feeling like forever. I spent a good weekend at home, but it's teasing me for the summer. I have a little over 2 weeks left here.

that's gonna send me to my knees

one hun'n

Welcome to my 100th post.

(couldn't find a good 100 pic, but I'm sure I'll be amongst Time's 100 one day)

Today I am celebrating my 100th post. That's alot of posting when I think about it. To give you newbies a brief history, I started this blog the first full semester of my first year of college. Just to catalog the events, my emotions and everything else that goes on. In the mix, I've thrown in my random thoughts, heartaches, favorite things and exciting times and most recently...bad yet memorable situations. I named it "In Case you Were Wondering about AMM..." because I figured my name comes across my friend's mind not so often, so just in case they were thinking about me, they could stop through and see what I was up to. Also, I started blogging to practice my writing (if you haven't noticed...I hope to my a journalist one day) and just be content with saying whatever the hell I have to say, no matter who's listening or reading...to some extent. Which fortunately, and unfortunately, has become increasingly apparent in my life away from my laptop lol

I'm proud to say that in the past 100 posts, I have recruited some fabulous bloggers including my sister (who created my fabulous banner), my best friend, my light skinned honey girlfriend from home in SC and some other friends who are entering the wonderful blog world.

And...I've made some neat blogger friends including the fabulous Karrie B, my cool friend at Morgan State and -1-!!! Sometimes I really want to pick the phone up and call them sometimes. Do you feel that way??

I just tried to go back and find my favorite blogs but I don't really have one. It's always interesting to go back and re-read old feelings. Sometimes it seems as if some of those feelings still may be there!

On another note, what's really going on in Hollywood? Why are all these young celebrities getting pregnant? These can't be accidents because what BABY can help someone's career? I know accidents happen, but I've always said and felt like in today's age in time, it's kinda easy to NOT get pregnant. Specially when you have millions of dollars. Popping a pill every morning isn't that hard. Trust. The newest one is Ashlee Simpson. It makes me kinda upset because these celebrities don't understand how much power that have on our society and our youth's minds.

Let's recount the young pregger ones of Hollywood: Britney Spears at 22, Christina Aguilera (at least she was married a good minute pre-baby), Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson at 22, Jamie Lynn Spears at 16 (which is pretty much a disgrace). Okay..this is all I can think of right now, but yea there's alot. Sometimes I'm really scared for my scared for my children's generation.

Anyways, back to my 100 celebration. Thank you to everyone who continues to read my blog, stop thru or just stalk me...actually, the last one is NOT okay. Thanks to those few who have read from the beginning, to those who just hopped on or come occasisionally. For you people who just lurk and don't say hi (comment), that's not very nice.

So in gratitude, leave me comments telling me how much you love my blog and how I'm just fabulous and whatnot :) If you've never commented or been here, I challenge you to join in on this wonderful celebration...

happy 100th to meeee!

Most interesting Thriday to date.

Sorry this has taken me a few days to post. it's been quite a weekend. My parents came and left, it was fun...Iguess, short and sweet.

My interesting weekend started on Thursday. At my last meeting for my newspaper, my editor told us that there was an Obama campaign rally coming to campus Thursday. No one wanted to take the piece, not even me at the time, so I told him I'd let him know if I had the time. I knew Tatyana Ali was gonna be there so I figured it would be mostly guys wagging their tongues and I really have trouble writing political pieces. But the next night I told him I could take the piece...in which he told me there was a slot for an interview with Tatyana. I know she is pretty much a C-list celeb, but I was still kinda nervous...but I said yes. Gotta start somewhere, right?

so she came and spoke.

and I came and interviewed. She was very sweet. And very funny. And very passionate about Barack Obama. And wears a fabulous David Yurman ring. I have to admit, she is one of the few child stars you have to give props to. If you didn't know homegirl went to Harvard, and double majored in both Afro Studies and Politics. The program started kinda late, partly because I interviewed her before hand...but she did a really good job. I have some audio of her speech, but I don't know how to put that up here. She is absolutely gorgeous in person and was very down to earth. But she's certainly come a long way...

I wonder if this pic is before or after Harvard...

Anyways.

Earlier in the week, me and my roommates were discussing the beach. Just talking about summer and looking forward to doing all the summer things. You know...going to the pool, going to the beach, walking on the beach, that sweet sh*t. So, Thursday night after I got back from my interview we decided "Let's go to the beach." Myrtle Beach. Which is approximately 250 miles from Charlotte. I mean what was there to loose?! Sleep?!? Gas at $3.23/gallon?

so we packed some bags and headed out.

can't forget pillows for the 3.5 hour drive.

my roommate started to drive and i just enjoyed the ride. that's me smiling and sh*t.

About an hour and a half in, I decided to drive because she was driving too slow because she's had four speeding tickets. I can't stand people who drive slow. I really don't think I could date a guy who drove the speed limit. Anyways, clearly, when I drive...i like to sang and be merry and sh*t.

until...

i got a speeding ticket.

I got pulled right when I was gettin comfortable, I probably hadn't driven 10 miles. This why I don't like driving late at night. I didn't see the cop, at all. I should have known better because the interstates down to Myrtle Beach are wide open. Let's just say the ticket was written for 64 in a 55. If you look close, you can see how fast I was really going. The officer did me a HUGE favor. I guess he reduced it because this is my first ticket, for me to be 19 and not have a ticket, is pretty good. All my friends have had speeding tickets before.

similar to any uh-oh incident, I make the 1st phone call...to my bestest, of course. At this point I'm scared and dropping the f-bomb more than I ever have in life. Nevermind I'm in Chesterfield county of SC...which is probably about 1.5 hour from Charlotte.

I continue driving, paranoid as hell at any parked car I see. Even raggedy old Buicks. I have to put the car on cruise, and put my foot on the floor to stop myself from speeding again. About 2 hours later, (which we thought was only one until we found out the GPS system hadn't reset to daylight savings) we finally make it to the beach. It was so foggy, you couldn't see...anything.

kinda looks scary.

I tried to do some sweet sh*t and write you a message. It says "AMM Says Hi." lol

We were virtually wet because of the humidity and fog. Hence my hair and my dress being wet. Excuse the boobage please. That's my roommate, Kathleen.

Kathleen, Christy and Me. Two of my three fellow suitemates, and probably the coolest white girls I know. I really don't think the officer would have let me off as easily if they weren't in the car with me. I love them.

I think this picture is me thinking "Did I really just get in the car and drive almost 4 hours to the beach to get a speeding ticket and not even be able to see more than 10 ft visibility because of the fog and come right back and tell my parents of my ticket when I see them tommorow?"

then we stayed for a little and got back on the road.
When I think about it now...I'm like, "why the hell did we do that?" But it was fun, and very memorable. This is what being young is about, right?

My parents weren't too upset when I told them. Their response was more like, "Why were you going to Myrtle Beach at 11 o clock at night?"

Nevertheless, the rest of my weekend hasn't been that eventful. Tatyana and Myrtle did enough for me. Our mini-trip kinda backed me up with sleep so I slept up until 1 pm Friday. I am glad my parents came when they did, seems like parents always know what's really going on. I learned my lesson and I'm gonna try my super bestest hardest not to speed anymore. At least not for a while. At least not at night.
Time is running out fast! I only have 10 more days of class. Ready to knock them out.

Have a great week.

btw, i just want to let someone know that this blog took me forever to do lol.
