Can you believe it's about to be Christmas? I can't. I've somehow attempted to do a few rounds of Christmas shopping...my choice is going to the malls late before the doors close! Although the malls have had some great sales, I had to get a few treats for myself including a fabulous New Year's dress :) Thanks Recession!!!!
My sister is finnnnnnnnnnnnalllly home. We've celebrated a little, but her little body needs to rest so we should be picking up soon. Including Kanki tonight :) yum.
Since I've been home...i have:

it's a little dusty around these parts
i know i've been quite rude to my blog, but there's been alot going on! Excuses excuses i know, but at one point I didn't even have a monitor for my computer lol and it was the week before I had a 20 page paper due. Thank gosh I have that paper out of my hands now...
Anyways, I'm soooo ready to go home. Although I've been home quite a bit over the last few weeks because of Thanksgiving, and some other things, I'm really ready to just unpack my bags for real. I hate living out of a suitcase. My Turkey day break was a teaser because I was home for like...5 days, but most of that time I was doing work work and more work. My exams have barely started, so I'll be in school the next few days while all my friends are chillin at home :(
I guess the good thing is, my sister will be home 3 days after I get home! I'm beyyooonnnddd excited. I guess the anticipation of her coming back has got me missing her extra these last few weeeks.
It's gonna be a great Christmas! My sister will be home, my little cousin who had leukemia early this year will be here, my Aunt from NY will be here and everyone else!! It's gonna be fabulous. and fat. lol
I told myself I was gonna do nothing but study the next few days, because 1, i study really slow and 2, i get easily distracted so I have to start extra early lol so I'm gonna get on it..
ciao! have a great weekend.

le premier octobre
Anyways, I wasn't looking forward to getting up early. I don't have class until 12:30 Monday and Wednesdays, so I don't usually get outta bed until like 10:30! Somehow my heart started beating at 6:30ish this morning and it wasn't too painful, well it was...but i'm sure it'll get worse once the weeks go on. Can you believe it's October? ribbit ribbit.
My day at WFAE consisted of...burning copies of the shows on CD's, beginning to answer phone call's on the show, and look at online news. and my phone until it rang. Until i realized it was before 10 o clock and I get mad at people who text me before then anyways. The show starts at 9 o clock. Today's show was about the economy...which is a mess in case you've been undering a rock for the past 3 weeks. I feel like I'll learn alot. Tomororow's show is about gas shortage! I wish I could be there...there is NO gas in Charlotte! It's a mess. I drove to the next town this past weekend and there was no luck. Places that do have gas, expect to wait >25 to get to the pump. I went to Gastonia last night...(which is a small town about 30 mins. away , but there are some cool kids there :) ) and they didn't even have gas! scary. i feel like it's gonna be a movie weekend, starting with our favorite idiot we love to hate (for a reason) Mrs.Palin on the debate tomorrow night!
I had class until 5! I had to speak with my comm professor shortly after class today. I have a 20 page paper due at the end of the semester, I'll feel like i can do anything once I accomplish that. He told me alot of people interviewed for my internship position!!?! I never would have guessed. Sometimes I'm geniunely knowlingly naive about things, if that makes sense. I'm still moving because I took a wonderful nap today. The kind of nap that you wake up and think it's the next day. I really thought it was Thursday morning and I really wanted Taco Hell (it's hell for your insides but soo good! sometimes.) I went out for a quick wal-mart run and taco bell but it turned into an hour and a half!! Wal-mart was hell, everyone and their moms were at Taco Bell so I settled for quizno's. mmm tasty.

o yea, i met Rev. Al Sharpton yesterday. He was cool. I guess. See Al, over, over, there's me.

ha. c'est moi aussi. that's me too.
i've been trying to watch p.s. i love you since sunday! everytime i cut it own i fall asleep or i get interrupted for long periods of time. my best friend said it's tear worthy? whatever. but i could use a good cry lol ciao. this time next week...i'll be a chez moi! my house! yayyyyyy

i ate mexican food today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
since my last post i (almost) met barack obama; been in the same room with lebron james, dwayne wade, chris paul and rudy gay; had two major test one in which a stupid white skeeze wanted to cheat beside me; had 3 articles (1 front page!) in my schools newspaper; received an once in a lifetime internship at a local radio station; and most recently traveled to see my best friend do wonderful in a pageant and currently in between entertaining my parent's visit to come see me at school.
It's been hectic at times but i think i'm realizing i'm FINALLY getting the whole swing of this college thing: work hard, dabble in the good stuff, keep in touch with family and friends and then go back to work and studying some more.
one thing i haven't go the swing off is being away from Raleigh! I miss home often, specially when times like this when i'm super busy. I really missed my house when I had to watch grey's anatomy season premiere with my 12' tv on the foot of my bed this week with a book under it because it kept tipping! (i dont have a tv stand, my cable cord isn't long enough to put on my dresser and i watch tv about....once a week).
I really do mean to blog, but telling stories gets boring with no pics! I still have no camera and constantly beg my friends to send me pics. I'll have some soon I promise! So look foward, although i keep saying that.
I'm really excited about going to see Miracle at St. Anna tonight with my parents and possibly my favorite Aunt! too bad my dog cousin (who really seems like a person) can't come too... I do have a picture of me and James McBride, the author of the novel, "Miracle of St. Anna" the novel the movie was based off of!

I met him last year at school after winning an essay contest about his first book, The Color of Water which is amazing. Unfortunately, i prob won't be reading Miracle at St. Anna since i'm going to watch the movie. Sorry, James.
O, and i had mexican food today!! It was the first time in probably a year....with my severe heartburn I've been steering away to avoid a massive like heartburn/stomach ache attack. I conquered. And it was delish.
see ya suckas

guess who's bizzack
I started school last week and it's been crazy busy here around these parts! Between moving into my apartment, planning and executing lots for my university's Black Student Union and telling my sister bye :(, i've been quite busy. I have to admit, I have been working hard and think its gonna be great year!!!
My Labor Day weekend was very pleasant spent some much time needed with many of my girlfriends, my family and some other special kiddies :) well one but whatever.
For those just tuning in...my sister left for Italy on Tuesday of this week! She's gonna be gone for farr too long so I promised her many pics throughout the next few months. Here are a *few* of me and some of my favorite people back here in Charlotte....
i don't know why i was hiding in the closet?!?!?
tasi and me!!!

Val, my co-editor and me!! I guess we are flexing our under pressure muscles?! Because we were definietly up to a quickly approaching deadline. Our first issue of our BSU Black Perspective Magazine was a hit! Hopefully we'll have a online version soon....

Tasmin and me again! it was her bday hence the tiara...happybirthdaybabe

heyyyy
I'm supposed to be studying right now! But I can't stop thinking about Sex and the City! The movie was surprisingly really well..despite all the bad reviews I was hearing about. I thought my experience was gonna be poopie and really packed but...I catched a late show last night with some cool girlies last night. I think the highlight was probably the 10+ gay black men who sat directly behind us. They behaved well, except one who seemed a little tipsy was lovin' my friend who goes to school in NY.
Despite being more than 2 hours...it was pretty fabulous! I never watched all six seasons of SATC, but I watched the last season and watched the late night re runs. But, the movie was still good if you weren't a big fan of the show. I didn't catch on to Carrie's taped up cell-phone...so if someone can tell me about that, that would make alot of sense.
2. miss having a 4some of best friends! 7 isn't too bad...but we always have to take 2 cars lol 3.realize i HATE being broke
4. wonder...is he my Mr. Big???
5. think it was Jennifer Hudson's first movie. She didn't do to hot. And whoever did her make-up in the movie played her. bad.
6. Wanna call KarrieB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Besides the movie, I spent a nice afternoon with a friend of mine from school who was visiting the area! Fun times. Stopped by a graduation cookout too...my high school graduated this weekend, I can't believe I graduated a year ago today! I can...but time flies.
yea. it stinks. late, i know but i had a great memorial day weekend! take a peek.
my sister's bf aka her schmoobie came to visit for her bday! they love each other.
me. hehe. lol. i promise i was being nice.
on a serious note: don't try to play my sis in scrabble. she'll beat your a*s.
yea, she's 23.
we had lots of fun though. especially with the margaritas. my sis middle! me at the end.
me and the girls went out too. i know i know...we make it look so easy.
back to work. have a great week :)

I am deeply sorry that I have abandoned you the past week..and some. It seems that God has set me up this summer. Only, this summer would my best friend who lives less than 5 minutes from my job stay at college while my parents continue to act like people from outer space. I'm doing my best to cope, but my days are long, so I'm often tired. Working from 8 to 5:30, and having a 2 hour a class in the middle of my day takes a while to get used to. After I long day of work in an office, the last things I want to do is sit a computer, see a telephone or use a stapler. Please do not be offfended.
In case you've been wondering what I've been up to outside the office...don't worry, everything is going fine. I saw an amazing movie this weekend, Iron Man and a very WACK movie called Vantage Point. Please go see Iron Man. I actually wanted to ask for my $1.50 back for the later movie. I am anxious to see Indiana Jones, too. I did get to see my two best friends and see my family, which is always nice...and interesting. And of course, I couldn't work a 40 hour week without having a lovely cup of Starbucks chai tea with a shot of vanilla.
This weekend is my sister's birthday, I'm really excited about celebrating, except I'm broke beyond compare and gas costs about $3.75 where I am.
I hope it's not long before we speak again

i've been tagged.
By...-1-
The Rules are as follows:
1. link the person who tagged you…
2. mention the rules in your blog…
3. tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours
4. tag 6 following bloggers by linking them
5. leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger’s blogs letting them know they’ve been tagged
Here are my six things:
1. The first thing I do when I get home, (or get into my dorm room) is take my two rings and watch off. It's really weird. It's the first thing I do. Even when I have to pee really bad, I can't sit on the potty with them on. I guess once I get to work, they distract me. Idk.
2. I have a 14'' by 10'' board on my nightstand that has everything I want in life. It has pictures of my fabulous mansion, my future career, my future alma mater, my future love, cute shoes and of course the Eiffel Tower (I'm tryna go again before I turn 20!). I see it every morning and every night before I go to sleep. Basically, if I imagine having it already, and think about them all the time, it will all come true. If you know/believe in The Secret, it's a vision board...so you know what I'm talking about.
3. A year ago tonight, I went to a concert for The Fray. I wasn't really that excited about going, I bought the tickets as a birthday gift for a friend. It turned out to be an amazing night. The weather was absolutely beautiful, and I think it was one of the things that spurred my love of summer nights. The music echoed perfectly, which made it sound like a soundtrack to the world. lol It's so weird because I can still remember that night so vividly.
4. I only have 3 front bottom teeth. In case you didn't know...most people have 4. I had a big uh-oh in like 2nd grade. Long story. No one can notice, my orthodontist did a great job.
5. I have really weird superstitions from when I was little: I blow at green lights so they'll stay green (Remember the movie Corinna, Corinna?) ; the first thing I say on the first day of each month is "Ribbit, Ribbit" (it's supposed to bring good luck for the month); I hate asymmetry and odd numbers (don't ask)
6. I love jeans. I wore a pair of jeans yesterday that I've had since 8th grade that I still love. They have holes in them and they are patched. I have a couple pairs of Seven (for all Mankind...not SEVEN JEANS), a pair of Rock and Republics, and a pair of Blue Cult. My money has been low lately, so I've been hitting up Old Navy, which I've been quite impressed with. And I do love Gap Jeans too.
Okay, I'm gonna tag....my sis, bri*chic, Stew, Don, Chass, and Kanye!! Hey...you never know.
Speaking of, Kanye and Lexi broke up :( I gotta get a new pic for my banner.
Thanks -1- for the tag.

one hun'n

(couldn't find a good 100 pic, but I'm sure I'll be amongst Time's 100 one day)
Today I am celebrating my 100th post. That's alot of posting when I think about it. To give you newbies a brief history, I started this blog the first full semester of my first year of college. Just to catalog the events, my emotions and everything else that goes on. In the mix, I've thrown in my random thoughts, heartaches, favorite things and exciting times and most recently...bad yet memorable situations. I named it "In Case you Were Wondering about AMM..." because I figured my name comes across my friend's mind not so often, so just in case they were thinking about me, they could stop through and see what I was up to. Also, I started blogging to practice my writing (if you haven't noticed...I hope to my a journalist one day) and just be content with saying whatever the hell I have to say, no matter who's listening or reading...to some extent. Which fortunately, and unfortunately, has become increasingly apparent in my life away from my laptop lol
I'm proud to say that in the past 100 posts, I have recruited some fabulous bloggers including my sister (who created my fabulous banner), my best friend, my light skinned honey girlfriend from home in SC and some other friends who are entering the wonderful blog world.
And...I've made some neat blogger friends including the fabulous Karrie B, my cool friend at Morgan State and -1-!!! Sometimes I really want to pick the phone up and call them sometimes. Do you feel that way??
I just tried to go back and find my favorite blogs but I don't really have one. It's always interesting to go back and re-read old feelings. Sometimes it seems as if some of those feelings still may be there!
On another note, what's really going on in Hollywood? Why are all these young celebrities getting pregnant? These can't be accidents because what BABY can help someone's career? I know accidents happen, but I've always said and felt like in today's age in time, it's kinda easy to NOT get pregnant. Specially when you have millions of dollars. Popping a pill every morning isn't that hard. Trust. The newest one is Ashlee Simpson. It makes me kinda upset because these celebrities don't understand how much power that have on our society and our youth's minds.
Let's recount the young pregger ones of Hollywood: Britney Spears at 22, Christina Aguilera (at least she was married a good minute pre-baby), Nicole Richie, Ashlee Simpson at 22, Jamie Lynn Spears at 16 (which is pretty much a disgrace). Okay..this is all I can think of right now, but yea there's alot. Sometimes I'm really scared for my scared for my children's generation.
Anyways, back to my 100 celebration. Thank you to everyone who continues to read my blog, stop thru or just stalk me...actually, the last one is NOT okay. Thanks to those few who have read from the beginning, to those who just hopped on or come occasisionally. For you people who just lurk and don't say hi (comment), that's not very nice.
So in gratitude, leave me comments telling me how much you love my blog and how I'm just fabulous and whatnot :) If you've never commented or been here, I challenge you to join in on this wonderful celebration...
happy 100th to meeee!

need.to.focus. & happy bdays.
On a good note, this weekend is a major bday weekend! Today is my bestest birthday and tomorrow is my bestest from another life time, Jill Scott's birthday. Looking forward to celebrating...I hope. It's so weird, me and my best friend are polar opposites when it comes to our birthdays. I love birthdays, I go all out for my friends and love my day...but she's like okay? It's April 3. What?
I'm headed to her within the hour, so I'm looking forward to a good bestfriends weekend. And the Heels taking it on Saturday.
Happy Weekend to you too.

long time no see
Had an interesting weekend this weekend. It was weird being here, I liked to say I used my time wisely. Haven't made it back to the gym...and the weather which is about 45 degrees right now is still a constant (yet vaild reason...they gym is probably 3/4 mile from my room!) reason.
I did download AIM* this weekend. I forgot how convienient it is! I use to be talking and typing away a mile of minute. Had some serious heart to hearts and confessions via that little box. Scary that technology has really taken over real-life communication. Being on instant messenger was the sh*t in middle, a little bit of my high school...and even elementary school! It is pretty neat. It's easier for me and my sister to stick to our "talk once a day" agreement. Me and bestest can talk too! And talk...and talk....then she'll call me.
I've been trying to be nice to all my roommates, it's been a little dramatic around these parts lately. Let's just say...boyfriend/girlfriend/affair/craziness? Never like to hear or be apart of those situations so it's kinda having my head spinning. This morning I almost considered choking one of my suitemates...lately, she's been locking the door of our bathroom which holds our sink, and toilet room. Three of us were trying to get ready this morning. I think she has quite a few screws loose anyways.
I could barely sleep last night, so that's probably why I was so angry this morning.
Got an interesting phone call last night...remember those posts about "I'm gonna do it today and go for it?" and "the friend that gave a me a very cold shoulder." Yea...that friend is actually my serious past- love, boo, boyfriend, anything you want to call it. I was considering calling, or emailing him...decided to be patient. Haven't spoke in 3 months and he called last night. So weird because yesterday I really almost picked up the phone and dialed the digits, which I finally got because for 2 of those months, I was neglected from his new number. Which was an ultimate diss. Patience is definitely a virture. Don't know what to expect next, I know how I feel but...I'm hoping I can stick to it. It was late, so we didn't talk much. He said he'd call me today, but I won't be holding my breath...but still thinking positive. Right?
The weather is GROSS. Maybe we have to go through this to endure a beautiful summer. I guess April shower's bring May flowers? Still trying to wrap my head around tomorrow being April 1. But...I did have some things I'd hoped would happen by this date, and they definetly have :)
If you have an April Fool's joke planned...please be nice.
*It seems like I'm on AIM alot, so if you're brave enough... and maybe I shouldn't do this...hit me up at Adrianne8590.
ciao.
Final Four -----> Saturday. Carolina is gonna TAKE IT!

76 in
Said Goodbye to Raleigh/Garner yesterday. Won't be seeing them for a while.
Really bummed about Corinne Bailey Rae's husband dying. Now we'll never get new music. It's almost been 2 years! But definetly prayed for her last night.
Felt good about my test this morning.
But bombed my math test last week. O well. Next time will be better.
Saw "Meet the Browns" Pretty okay...TP could have done a FAR better ending. I almost gagged.
Did you have class today? They cheated us here in Charlotte. No one has class Friday, so of course that's the day they picked for the "holiday," rather than Monday.
Been listening to lots of Donny Hathaway, which is quite amazing. Wish he could have stayed a little longer.
Anticipated getting some crab roll for lunch today, but they weren't making any sushi! And you have to be a fool to eat pre-packaged sushi on a Monday.
In case you didn't see the last two Carolina games...Carolina is the TRUTH, and they are going alll the way. (113-74 AND 108-77...seriously?)
miss my friends. alot.
we're 76 days in 2008. 289 to go.
and this isn't me being random, just para-sentencing.

Hello Spring.
Regardless, its a new season.
As corny as it sounds...I can definetly relate to Mother Earth because it seems as if I'm entering a new season. Its safe to say that I'm currently or have been experiencing a transition in my life. Over the past few months, a myriad of things have occured in my life. Health, family, relationships, school...all of it. Not here to whine or complain because things in my world have been going very well and I'd hate for anything to change. It seems as 2008 is going to be a good year. I can't believe we're almost 4 months in. Its crazy. I started the year off in a new atmosphere. New dorm/suitemates because my previous situation was just toxic. I remember many nights crying my eyes out, or starring at the clock and ceiling for hours staright. I have very few good memories in 128C. But, thank God I'm now in a much more positive environment which has definetly been a blessing.
College is definitely an experience. Everyone I run into his preparing to start college I always tell them 'you gotta be in the right mind to be in college. ' Don't know what you think, but I believe its very true. People are crazy, and at the vulnerable age of 18 it seems like sane people sometimes just flock to crazy, idiotic people.
I have definetly learned the value of friendship or lack there of. I think I can count people I would call my friends at Charlotte on one hand and still have fingers left over. Its not that I haven't had time to meet people, I've meet quite a few but....just can't give time and energy and my fabulous friendship to anyone who could care less. I'ts life. I've learned a lot. I see my 6 beautiful girls from home together prob once every two months. And at this point in my life, it satisfies me. Hurts to say bye, but I know those girls will have my back to the end, and they're always a phone call or BB message away :)
At one point this semester, my two best friends didn't want to have anything to do with me...for a month. No contact no nothing. It felt like hell. Things are still unstable with one but the other seems to be on track to be better than before. Guess it makes you appreciate relationships more. Good ones, at least.
Scary to realize people you think would always be there for you, won't. Never thought it would happen to me. Its been quite a few months since an argument with a friend, who has since has given me the very cold shoulder. Zero contact. As stated earlier many times, lifes too short...especially to hold grudges. I just continue to do my best to pump positive energy into this world, just pray about it. That usually helps. The whole situation is just very weird...
The most profound thing I've learned about is my parents. I love them to death, and that's an understatement. Parents are people. That's one thing I've learned since I've been in college. My parents just make me really upset sometimes. I guess people will never meet up to your expectations, especially those you really care about and love, but it hurts when your parents don't. Long story in short, I've been preparing to transfer to another college next year that is a PERFECT fit for my academic goals. My parents, don't agree, and at one point decided I wouldn't be going even if I was accepted. That hurt. They claimed I need to stay another year in Charlotte, I'm doing good here and my new school is more expensive, and something about me having a social life (whhha? Yea right. ) Like my parents really care about me having a social life. I guess everyone is entitled to make mistakes but sometimes I look at my parents and really say, "seriously?!" I really don't agree with some of the things my parents do nowadays but I know it could be alot worse.
I could probably go on and on talking about the things in the past year that have bothered me the most and those that didn't even phase me.
When I started this blog, only 4 people read it. That I knew of at least...I'm beginning to think its a little bit more than the original 4, actually probabaly minus one of those...reading lately lol. I know sometimes I write some crazy stuff up here but, I've always found it easier to write what I'm feeling or thinking...at least in certain sitations.
My 19th birthday is quickly approaching and despite all the crazy, mind-boggling, heart-aching things I've seen and experienced in the last few years, I just continue to be grateful.
"hurts me to see you feel this way
but it won't be always
don't know you know everything's got to change?
...don't you know, patience is a virtue
life is a waiting game
peace must be nurtured"
